Citizens of Ellendale meet in city hall to discuss the Vawter Chautauqua System contract. Resolution demands explain that a $1000 guaranty is unwanted and misrepresented, with secretary Boom tasked to contact Vawter officials and seek a compromise.
Wisconsin resident John Thomas of Chippewa Falls and his wife visit southern Emmons with relatives. He recalls Lafollette as a strong speaker but a possible demagogue, predicting his return to Washington while Wisconsin’s state ticket remains unsettled. Thomas notes Lenroot’s rising stature and White Clover as a promising fodder crop.
Fort Yates facts record a busy Sioux County scene with social visits from Linton and Glanavon, a Bismarck trip by car, and a river crossing for a dance. Local bridge contracts bid to D. D. Bidwell of Hazelton for 3960 dollars, while Ostram, and Sioux Lumber Co. win the new bank building project. Fogel submits bids, and a county board meeting discusses contracts and subscriptions as Frank Fiske photographs reservations for a series on American Indians. Governor Hanna cannot attend Standing Rock Indian Fair. J H Worst of the State Agricultural College will fill the program.

In Marietta Georgia Leo M Frank convicted of Mary Phagan murder was seized from prison farm by a mob and hanged from an oak near the Phagan home. The body later moved to Atlanta amid crowd protests and a Cobb county inquiry begins.
Braddock notes Aug 12 report Mrs Vie is welcomed back by many friends upon her return home after visiting. Mr Vie had traveled to Bismarck on Tuesday and accompanied her back.
