From the Signal Office July report of the Bismarck signal station rainfall days and amounts are listed. Rainfall was about one third lower than last July, yet crops produced higher yields in quantity and quality this season.
North Dakota farmers, reputedly wise, choose to stock the Red River valley more than two years ago, as Southern Minnesota did out of necessity. The Fargo Republican notes the trend in regional farming and cattle movement.

Mr Campbell introduced large scale wool growing in Emmons County at Dugald Ett e to Philadelphia today. He bought sheep in Wyoming, drove them across via the Black Hills, wintered them in Missouri valley with loss under 2 percent. Since starting, he reports continuous success, profitability, and satisfaction.
Harvest activity is widespread with machines and cradles in use. By mid next week most fields will be harvested leaving little standing grain. Yields are first class with barley oats wheat flax corn potatoes buckwheat millet turnips and garden vegetables thriving. Onions beets carrots squashes and pumpkins promise as abundant yields as last year.
Ellendale Commercial notes exchanges warn farmers about mustard plant. Experienced growers know the trouble it causes. Wild mustard has blanketed entire fields in the Red River valley and left them idle by suppressing other crops.
A commercial representative including Supt Mok Kellie discussed Ellendale railway extension plans. He said the company has no stated intent to build the line and he lacks authority to commit, though he has advanced inquiries at Edendale Commercial.
A Pioneer Press report states that the Milwaukee and St Paul has awarded a contract for the construction of twenty miles of railroad line from Ellendale. The update notes expected progress and implications for regional transportation.
