In federal court Judge Amidon sentences Rev. John Fontana, pastor of the German Evangelical Lutheran church of New Salem, to three years in Leavenworth for three counts of violating the espionage act of 1917. Fontana’s counsel files appeal bond and writs of error.

The Navy lifts the enlistment age to 40 for men and removes the weekly district quota of 40 for the regular Navy.
