In Mason City on September 17 1914 two Northwest Iowa baseball teams Greene and Allison were cleared in court of violating Sunday law after playing a game across county lines. Floyd county officials had seized the players but the court ruled they were not breaking any law or ordinance.
In Emmet County district court Judge Lee dismissed a highly publicized seduction case after a day of proceedings. The action involved a young man accused of seduction amid wider allegations of unlawful relations with the woman, leading the judge to view it as a vindicator matter rather than a focused seduction case.
In Kingsley district court, M J Fort a wealthy banker is defendant in a divorce filed by his wife Clara Fort. She cites cruel treatment and seeks alimony plus custody of their minor daughter Dorothy. The Forts wed in Malta Iowa in 1888.
