Palo Alto Farmer Grows Argentine Corn Sample Size Mentioned

W L Morris of Palo Alto town brought two ears of Argentine corn grown in Palo Alto county to the Courier office. The ears were the smallest and meanest seen, with Morris noting London quotations for corn at $161 per 100 pounds of American corn and $111 for Argentine corn, suggesting possible but limited value.

Heavy rainfall reports and saturated ground across the region

Wednesday brought a heavy downpour with Pocahontas recording six and a half inches in twelve hours, possibly the heaviest in ten years. Another strong rain on Sunday matched the Wednesday totals. Ground is thoroughly soaked, ideal for plowing, and pastures are fresh and green. farmers hope for dry spells until late fall or next spring.
