In Emmetsburg Sunday night a glowing red fireball the size of a volley ball entered Dr. Ernest F. Martins kitchen and burned a kettle and two stove burners. Mrs. Martins narrowly avoided injury as neighbors suffer similar electrical disturbances from the storm. The Martin pastor of The First Methodist Church reports the ball vanished after causing minor damage and nearby utilities also faltered during the storm.

Stove Shorted Burns at Wendell Gile Home
Emmetsburg firemen were called to the Wendell Gile home to extinguish a fire that broke out in an electric stove about 3 00 pm yesterday. Mrs Gile said she was baking a cake when a burner shorted and the stove smoked, filling the house. Firemen hauled the stove out and the fire was extinguished. The stove control was a total loss.
