Best 10 white corn saw Frank Meine first, Geo Gengler second, Earl Sheppard third. Calica corn best 10 went to Leo Elbert, Mildred Carlisle won best single yellow corn, H. E. Frost best amateur single ear, Frank Meine top white corn single. Herman Gade won largest year of corn, Frank Bestenlehner most freakish corn, and Joe Laubenthal longest ear.
William Mahle, a blind young man, opens a law office at Sumner. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hahie, formerly of Swen City, now near Irvington. He attended the state school for the blind at Vinton and later at the State U. In spare time he tuned pianos.
