The Iowa Supreme Court unanimously voided a 1965 law that taxed nonresident farmland owners higher and withheld the agricultural land tax credit from nonresidents. The decision says the measure violated the U S Privileges and Immunities Clause by discriminating against nonresidents. The ruling notes the credit helps pay school taxes and that funding shortfalls will shift pro rata to counties.
