The 400 acre farm had been in the family for years. total estimated loss about $20,000.
Eirella Costello Myerly wife of the late H B Myerly died in Mason City on November 11. The remains were brought to Spirit Lake for burial in the Lake View cemetery. H B Myerly was a son of Mr and Mrs J I Myerly of Wanpeton and ran a Milford garage before the family moved to Mason City about ten years ago.
Tony Seiler of near Sexton suffered two shotgun pellet wounds to the ear last Friday while hunting with others. He had a gun loaded against a corn crib when a man approached and pulled the trigger. Seiler’s ear was badly torn and his clothes torn by the blast.
Charles Trunnell two year old son of Mr and Mrs Ted Trunnell of Laverne frontsuth county ate rat poison left in a bowl prepared for rats. A physician was called and the child is recovering.
Patricia Ann Millig daughter of Mr and Mrs Emil Millig of Good Hope had her hand and arm drawn into a soft roller wash wringer. The incident narrowly avoided serious injury with the softer rollers likely saving her life.
Humboldt county is allotted a second pork shipment of 1600 pounds for the needy. An additional butter allotment will also be sent to Humboldt to aid relief efforts.
A. D. Claussen, named by the Laurens Sun, has received commission as 9, Federal Land Appraiser attached to the Chicago Federal Land Bank. He is expected to work from Laurens and was summoned to Chicago last week for confirmation from Washington. He plans to resign as city clerk and begin appraising in AKL after his first assignment.
James Fisher, once linked to Vernon township and tied to the Emmetsburg Bur gowvie farm area, died in Portland Oregon on November 9 at about age 68. His wife, four sons and two daughters survive. Funeral held in Portland. Mrs. J J Brown of Vernon township notified. Fisher was a familiar figure among older county residents.
A subscription paper is circulated in Humboldt to raise 400 dollars to hire men to remove snow from streets this coming winter. All local business men have been solicited and most have contributed.
A chicken supper bazaar and dance were held at the Orleans Hotel in Estherville Tuesday and Wednesday to benefit St Patrick’s church. Father Savage, formerly of this city, serves as pastor. Several residents from Emmetsburg attended the event.

Ida County Pioneer Record reports butter maker Don Schultz of the Ida Grave oxgamery became lost in a stiff wind storm last week. He wandered for miles until the wind died down and found he was about four miles from his companions.
