Algona Bank Reports Solid Footings in Quarterly Statement

A quarterly statement from County Savings Bank of Algona shows capital stock at 100000, surplus 60000, undivided profits 9000, and deposits 2146000, with total footings of 2787000. Housing shortage prompts new home building ideas

The state faces a shortage of about 35 000 homes with some estimates at 50 000. In areas with housing laws 1 115 dwellings were built last year, about 60 percent in Des Moines. Tight money and speculation strain the market. Proposals include tax exemptions for new residences and state supervised building and loan boards for communities.
