Kermit Kohlstedt twenty one of Fenton drowned Thursday last week in Aue lake while hunting with Reinhold Laabs forty five and Gran Martinson twenty six. Their boat capsized on the west shore. Kohlstedt sank with heavy clothing while Laabs and Martinson aided and cried for help. Kohlstedt body recovered late afternoon. laabs rescued and taken to a nearby home. This is Mud Lake's first drowning in thirty years.
The association reports 147 cows on test with 114 dry. Average production 500 pounds milk and 19 pounds fat, up 3.1 pounds per cow from last month. Ten cows culled for beer. 42 cows produced over 40 pounds fat. High fat record 74.5 by Wallis Rouse. top herd Martin Simonson Ruthven with 915 pounds milk and 35.5 fat. Rouse and CL. G. Uerki show 551 pounds milk and 28.2 fat. Most herds fed grain. one separator issue corrected by adjustment.
In a decisive 23 to 0 victory, Emmetsburg High School toppled Clarion as Coach Gowans’ squad shook off weeks of sluggish play with a dominant performance. The season continues with four remaining games against Estherville Britt Algona and Spencer.
County reports completion of Highway No 10 between Peterson and Clay OBrien County Inc. bringing total paved miles to over 60 in four years. Delays on No 18 were due to disputes over exact routing. The new route removes dangerous crossings and sharp turns.
Barbara Tiel of Peterson receives 1350 from Mrs. Anna Holthues in a Peterson township crash case heard in Spencer district court. Funeral services were held for Mrs. E W Bachman 69 at the J E Stockdale home in Estherville. She died at 12 15 a m Wednesday after a lingering illness. Born May 6 1864 in Baraboo Wisconsin she lived in Estherville since 1880s. Survived by two daughters Mrs C E Ladd of Minneapolis and Mrs J E Stockdale and two brothers Charles Forrest and Joseph Forrest.
