Ruined Smoke Stack Halts City Water Plant Upgrade
The new steel smoke stack at the city water plant was ruined yesterday morning while Superintendent Jake Rubel and C E Lufkin raised it. A bolt in a guy post broke causing the stack to fall. Ryan, who had driven to the plant to fix the telephone, saw the fall and jumped from his auto as it died. The stack ignited within six feet of his machine. The city will incur costs to replace the stack.

In September 126 shunts were shipped to Chicago from the Kerber farm for feeding. only nine hogs remain alive as the others died of cholera.
