Ed Cisler leads Emmetsburg High School football as players gather at a Quarterback club meeting to back a Friday clash with Estherville for the Lakes Conference crown. The dinner at First Methodist drew 250 supporters and guests who heard talks urging a win, with coach Walt Pitcher forecasting a triumph and a return home with the trophy.
In the county standings Emmeteburg leads the conference with four wins and one loss as Bethersille trails with four victories. With remaining games, Bethersille could force a race while Emmeteburg eyes a final test. final standings and key matchups outlined with teams Esthervilard, Sheldon, Cherokee, Spencer, Lake Storm Lake and Sibley noted.
The hospital finance committee led by Arthur McDonald appeals for funds for a new hospital wing costing 365000 with 42500 on hand after prior gifts. Contributions totaling 43174 are in, with 81826 still sought. rural areas face delays due to harvest. McDonald, and members Herman Elder, Mrs Pratt, Mrs Chrinansen, Mrs Dahigg, and Mrs Ottling pledge weekly updates as the drive continues.

The Ith Rev. Gonrad St. Glesnar, bishop coadjutor of South Dakota, will hold services at Trinity Episcopal Church Sunday November 6 at 11. Chester Bahr of Milwaukee has arrived in Emmetsburg to manage the former Runnings Furniture store, recently bought by Willer Stores of Marionette. The Hilfer company also purchased the Runnings warehouse and will operate a local furniture firm with Rahy married into the Hilfer family lineage in the business. Bahr served two years in World War II as a radar technician in the Pacific theater and is a former Wisconsin basketball referee and football student athlete. He pledged to provide superior merchandise and dependable service.
Fort Dodge representative James I Polliver reported at two local meetings last night. J L Dolliver spoke at Lions Club dinner and Chamber of Commerce to discuss governmental trends in Washington and farm policy. He argued bipartisan support for farm aid and warned against greed in the farm belt while noting diverse opinions in the sector.

Officers investigated thefts and arson of two Ford autos near Ayrshire. Dick Fread’s 1951 Ford burned while parked four miles north of Foavietabyre after radiator draining. A 1937 Ford owned by Jefe Kirkegaard, at the Farm Bureau service station, was removed from its lot last night. On Tuesday reports detail Harrys Cooke an 18 year old who injured left hand in an accident near corn fields. Mervin Ter 34 of Plover is identified as the second crash victim who dies. County officers launch a statewide drive against gambling. HawKey Hawks defeat Storm Lake 25 to 0 to stay atop the conference standings. An annual Karn Bureau meeting is planned in Emmerburg in November. Senator Lyoes of Mansfield and Jay Spaak are noted. Keith McDonald 24 is sentenced to five years at Men’s Reform for theft of an electric motor from Cylinder Taran.
An enthusiastic 750 local fans travel to Estherville for Ed Cisier's E Hawks amid a bid to clinch the Lakes Conference title in a decade spanning their fifth crown since the league began in 1920. The Midgets from Farmarsburg visit for the pivotal clash, a decisive home-and-away tie that could settle the conference.
Roman Knecht, son of Mr and Mrs Theocre Knecht, received severe burns when his car ignited as he arrived in Whittemore about 6 40. Two passing women, Ruth Ruppell and Mrs Rawsett, tore a blanket from a car to smother the flames. Knecht was dragged clear under the vehicle, remembers little after a wire broke. He was taken to St Wan's hospital Algona.
