Lutheran Church Buys Parsonage for St Pauls Church

St Pauls Lutheran church purchases Olaf Anderson residence at 703 North Lawler Street for a parsonage. The six room brick bungalow built in 1920 cost 10000 and needs no remodeling for current occupant. Attic space could add two bedrooms. The church has grown 50 percent in five years with a 15 percent rise last year and will dedicate the parsonage with an open house on a date to be announced.

University of Iowa nursing program calls for 142 freshmen

The University of Iowa School of Nursing plans a June 3 registration and June 8 start for the first freshman class of 142. More than 100 girls have applied and the limit is 150, Director Lois Corder says. Applicants must be 18 to 32, physically fit, and have 15 hours of credit from approved secondary school.

Tolls Again As Plainfield Church Reuses Historic Bell

The Plainfield Methodist church marks its 75th anniversary with the reactivation of a church bell silent since 1919. The bell, donated in 1836 to the Plainfield Presbyterian church, was stored after the building was abandoned. A grandson of the original donor will oversee placing the bell in its new location.
