Board May Locate Gravel Pit on Kulp Farm
County supervisors plan to condemn land on the Dr. Kulp farm at Cylinder for a gravel pit to build a road toward the Kossuth county line. Kulp refused to name a price, claiming he does not want a pit on his property. If the land was removed from Cylinder town limits, condemnation could begin soon. If Kulp appeals, he may receive what a court awards. The board aims to push graveling on about twenty miles of secondary roads this season. Four miles last fall and two miles of primary road from Mallard to Pocahontas line are noted. Grover, the contractor from Mallard, plans to start this week. Additional four-mile stretches on secondary roads will follow. The regular meeting of the board will be held next Wednesday, April 1, with contracts for several bridges set for April 2.
