Community Notes: Card Club Dinner and Club Activities
Mrs W R Neary hosted her card club at home Monday evening with high score wins for Mrs L Howard and Mrs Gene Kane. VFW auxiliary met March 10 at the Veterans Clubrooms presided by Mrs Francis Schott of Cylinder, voted donations to the Red Cross and hospitals in Mt Pleasant and Dubuque, Ed Merk received a 10 year pin, cookies sent to U S O canteen in Des Moines, next sixth district meeting in Fort Dodge on May 9. Bluebirds met City Hall green room with Pam Potter presiding, minutes read by Kathy Gibson, St Patrick themed craft, lunch served, jewelry and songs, Linda Barkve reporter. Dinner guests included relatives from Pocahontas, Curlew, Spencer, and Emmetsburg. Rotary weekly luncheon at Country Club with Milton Morling presiding. County Attorney John Duhigg spoke on Japan and Formosa, noting his service there.

Three Palo Alto Girls Named All State in NW Iowa
Three Palo Alto county girls Marlene Truelsen Janice King and Shirley Janssen were picked for All State basketball teams by the Iowa Daily Press association placing Janice King among the top 16 forwards. King is Curlew’s top scorer for three years and known for quick moves and clutch shooting.
