New Carrier Posts Offer for Cylinder Post Office

An examination will be held April 3 for a rural carrier position at Cylinder. The salary is $1,500 per year plus $50 per mile per year for each mile. Applicants should inquire at the Fremntersburg post office for blanks and particulars. Bro. Lighter of the Territorial Tribune plans to install a line type. The paper promises a neat, clearly printed edition.

Heroic rescue on icy creek by local girls

On a creek north of town Miss Fhavwity fell through ice but Miss Rierson reached with a tree and saved her companion Miss Hewitt from drowning. Ruth Benson helped clear water from Hewitt’s lungs and aided recovery. The act was described as brave for girls of that age. Also notes a 40c supper March 9 by the M. E. Sunday school Teachers' Training class, and a letter from Mrs. Bannon praising the Democrat after 36 years of subscription.

Partello Case Delayed. 480 Acres in Land Dispute

The Partello case set for trial last Monday was postponed until August, involving ownership of 480 acres of land. Mason City plans for remodeling its water works due to rapid growth, which will be costly to taxpayers. Mr and Mrs Fred Austin and Mr Austin's mother move to Armstrong to live on a farm next year. friends extend best wishes.

Root Family Mourns Loss After Fatal Gravel Pit Injury

Oscar Root, severely injured in a gravel pit north of Ayr last week, died at Algona hospital. The funeral was at St. Thomas church, Emmetsburg, with burial at St. John’s cemetery. Survived by wife Susie and three children Kathleen Florence and Eugene, plus mother, siblings, and in laws. He was a frugal farmer born April 30, 1888, and a devout church member.

Des Moines Polk County grand jury indicts Shr Graves for shooting Clarence De Vault after an incident in Des Moines last spring. Graves attacked De Vault and Clarence Whitney while the two women rode in a car. De Vault died days later. Graves, previously charged, fled and remains at large.
