Sad Shooting at Hartley Leaves Boy Paralyzed
Louis Steinke, eight miles north of Hartley, was struck by a stray bullet while swimming in a creek near his mother's home. The bullet severed his spinal cord as the Lyman boys fired a rifle from about three hundred yards away. He was rushed to a hospital after the shot while an X ray confirmed the injury. Doctors, while hopeful, fear for his recovery. Clint Smith visited Mason City Thursday.
