Donald Greene Services Held at Ruthven
Funeral services for Donald Joseph Greene age 49 of Ruthven were held June 8 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Ruthven with Rev D William Wingert officiating. Burial followed at Salvary Cemetery Ruthven. Greene died about May 27 of an apparent heart attack at his farm near Ruthven. He was born April 23 1924 in Palo Alto County and was a World War II Army veteran. He is survived by brother Maurice Greene of Belle Plaine la. He was preceded in death by his parents a brother and a sister.

Ruthven High School band joined four other bands and 54 queen candidates at the 35th annual North Iowa Band Festival in Mason City on June 5. Grand marshal Mrs. William R. Turner led the parade. Patricia Kropf of Ruthven was named Ruthven queen after a noon luncheon and massed bands under Cmdr. William Stauffer.

Bessie Olson died June 1 in Bartlesville Oklahoma at 63 years. Funeral services were held June 5 at Dickens Methodist Church with Rev. George T. Ott officiating. Burial followed in Dickens Cemetery. She was born November 17 1909 to Nels and Ellen Olson, educated in Dickens Ruthven High School John Fletcher College Oklahoma University Northwestern University, taught across several colleges and ended as English professor at Bartlesville Wesleyan. Survivors include Otto A. Olson Edd A. Olson Clara Anderson Hannah Johnson.

Rainbow decorations matched the bride’s colors with corsages for the honoree her mother Mrs. T A Christiansen and her sister. A lunch from a lace covered tea table featured iris and daisies with punch coffee and a program of readings songs and a Cinderella skit.
