Purchase Plan For Corn Told
Lawrence D Brennan county AAA committee chairman announced a contract purchase plan under the corn freeze order. The plan prioritizes Delighted first for sellers who pledged corn for sale to the CCC and opens to others with available corn. A 50 cent per bushel down payment is made by the county AAA with the balance paid by the elevator based on local GPA price and grade upon delivery. Shelling and delivery are paid to the sheller by the elevator, reimbursed by the COA. Committees will administer and issue drafts at 50 cents a bushel. The Palo Alto committee met with the state AAA to finalize details and plan a Wednesday meeting at 8 pm for instructions at the Court House. Township committeemen will contact pledged farmers and hope to sign all contracts by mid June. Brennan said pledged corn goes only to designated processing plants for war material byproducts and the freeze will lift after sixty million ashers are received.
