Wreck of Pennsylvania Special Near Johnstown Injures Dozens
Fifty four passengers and about a dozen crew were injured when the Pennsylvania Railroad special train plunged from a sixty foot embankment into the Cohemaugh river near Black Diamond Pa seven miles east of Johnstown. Notably aboard were A Busse postmaster of Chicago and other prominent Chicago figures. None killed. most treated at Altoona Greensburg and Philadelphia. Rev Dr Cope led a prayer service aboard the relief train.

In Hook of Holland on February 25 the last three survivors were evacuated from the British steamer Berlin by the same lifeboat crew noted for rapid saves. All three women, Frau Weinbergher, her sixteen year old nurse Mina Ripler, and Fremlein Theile, bring total saved to fifteen of 448 aboard. In Stuttgart a German opera singer’s fiancée, Efert Darn, reportedly insane on hearing of the disaster.
