Graettinger Couple Mark 50th Wedding Anniversary
Graettinger Mr and Mrs Henry Webbe celebrated their golden anniversary with a Mass at Immaculate Conception church on Feb 12 and a family breakfast. An open house followed at the Webbe home with flowers, a four tier cake, and gifts from grandchildren. Relatives from Estherville Emmetsburg and Monte were among guests as 10 grandchildren were noted.

The Rodman community held its annual supper at the schoolhouse Tuesday evening with attendees including E G Firkins Mr and Mrs John Meisch Mrs D Urquhart Harriet Mrs J Walker Mrs Ida Ballenbach and Mr and Mrs Dale Miller. They attended the 40th wedding observance at the George Varcoe home in Emmetsburg honoring Mrs Varcoe s parents Mr and Mrs Roy Swartfinger. Also noted was a wedding observance at Bethany Lutheran church in Emmetsburg for Mr and Mrs Gus Leon Firkins.

Graettinger Barbershop Quartet to Sing at Lions Club
Joe McNamara president of the Emmetsburg Barbershoppers says the Graettinger chapter quartet will sing at the Graettinger Lions Club meeting on Friday March 4 in the Graettinger High School auditorium, starting at 6 pm.

Fairfield Happy Hour annual Family Night was hosted at Syunges hall with a 7 o clock serving, ending around 7 35 before a home talent program. Mrs Rudolph Tolsdorf opened the program listing community songs followed by musical games and skits including Am I A Mother by Mrs Elmer Geneet and Mrs H R Pettit and a cornet solo by Mervin Berkland.

Mother of the Year nominee attends Fairfield 4-H meeting
Fairfield area 4 H club members and leaders gathered at Marcia Sweeney's home where the meeting opened with the pledge. Twenty one members and two leaders answered roll call with a pledge to learn a new food this year. Demonstrations on baking powder biscuits were given by Marcia Sweeney and Marjean Schott. The group served lunch and heard talks on nutrition and health topics by Phyllis Solberg Margie Freeman Wilma DeMases Donna Freeman Arlen Moss and Suzanne Stokka. The event culminated in songs and a short talk by Mrs Felsdorf and was followed by lunch served by the hostess with Marcia Sweeney assisted by Marjeane Schott Sheila Jacobson reports.
