Kenneth Lyle Johnson born December 18 1916 on a Curlew Iowa farm died after his car skidded on ice and overturned in Emmetsburg. Funeral services were held at his home and the Methodist Episcopal church with interment at Silver Lake cemetery. He was a popular graduate of Siliper Lake High School class of 1924 and earned a basketball letter. He worked on the family farm and was remembered as cheerful and thoughtful by friends.

Whittemore rural carrier Mr. Frank Farrell slipped on ice last Thursday spraining an ankle and breaking a bone below the knee requiring crutches for several weeks. Emmetsburg visitors, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Farrell, and their son and daughter, called on Saturday. Mrs. Mary Stieffes traveled to Spencer on Monday to assist Elmer Bennitt, hospitalized in Rochester.

Car Crash Injures Two Men En Route to Ayrshire Home
Robert Puhr and Everett Stacey were in a collision when their car left the road south of Silver Lake and struck a tree while traveling from Gillett Grove to the Jack Kibbie home. Stacey sustained serious injuries. Puhr received cuts and bruises and later received aid at a nearby home. Stacey was hospitalized in Spencer and remained unconscious for a period. Fuhr, employed at the Kibbie farm, aided Stacey before help arrived.
