New York February 20 a highwayman attacked Mr and Mrs John W Cornish in front of their home and tore a 35000 diamond brooch from Mrs Cornish's throat. He fired at Cornish as he protested and fled after an exciting chase with a policeman with several shots exchanged but no injuries reported. The robber trailed the couple home from a streetcar where their diamonds attracted attention.
Moscow telegraph operators on the Moscow Riason line strike for a minimum wage of 20 dollars and an eight hour day instead of twelve. Operators on the Moscow Windau road also strike, forcing suspension of train service. At Voronezh 3000 railroad workers on the Southwestern line strike for higher wages and shorter hours.
Nan Patterson, the former show girl awaiting trial for the murder of bookmaker Caesar Young, is reported seriously ill with tonsillitis at the Tombs. She has suffered similar attacks during her imprisonment.
