The jury in Estherville found M. M. Dunkelberger guilty of forging a government soldier’s compensation certificate. He was convicted for using his brother Fay Lee Dunkelberger’s name on the document for 488 dollars.
Ray Ruby on the Watson Mulroney farm north of Emmetsburg sold six feed sows for 2.20 per hundred after receiving a previous market high of 97 per head years ago. Mrs Miller will take over the Watson Mulroney property March 1 as Miss Sampson departs March 4 for a new home in Arizona with her parents. Miss Margaret Henry, daughter of Mr and Mrs Will Henry, will replace Sampson after completing studies at Iowa State Teachers College Cedar Falls. A Graettinger Times report notes Chicago business space vacancies with rent unpaid 15 to 18 months while the city remains quiet. Joe Fleming of Whittemore visited Emmetsburg on his way to Highland Township to inspect his farm and mentioned his father’s 308 acre place and winter conditions.
Dan McNally received a postal card from M M Miller chief electrician on an American war ship lately in Santiago harbor. Miller saw the earthquake ruins there and others in Emmetsburg expected him near Shanghai, but he has served with the Atlantic fleet for some time. He was in Emmetsburg last July.
Met and Mrs. A. A. Clark and Mrs. W. T. McNally went to Mason City Sunday to see Sam Rozen who is in Mercy hospital He was threatened with pneumonia He is better James Frombach who was a hospital patient has been discharged.
Mrs Sid Higley of Mason City, after a recent operation and hospital stay, was able to return to her home in Mason City in the latter part of the week.

Mr Giverney of Yankton announced Monday a five dollar donation by Ed Gorman of this city to aid South Dakota sufferers. Gorman has a heart for those who lost crops last summer and face hardship.
The Mallard Independents beat Ruthven 62 to 23 in the boys game and 34 to 20 in the girls match at Mallard Tuesday. Earlier, Mallard boys won the county tournament 34 to 22 in Emmetsburg, marking their third straight title.
