Fire destroys Maxwell area home killing three children
Fire and explosion at Isaac Smiths home six miles northeast of Maxwell last night killed three children aged 12, 4, and 6. A man suffered fatal injuries, a woman was seriously hurt leaping from a window, and an infant was saved by neighbor George Coughenor. Rescuers heard screams but could not reach the room as flames consumed the house in minutes.
