The Royal waterworks froze on January 22 and was thawed last week by a steam crew. The elevated tank and standpipe froze solid. the WPA funded the system last year at $18,000. Lawrence Brennan and Earl Joynt with Mrs. A B Leslie visited Bancroft. Leslie stays awhile. They found roads poor and returned to Emmetsburg the same day. Notice: Freedom Township Farm Bureau meeting postponed until further notice.
Whittemore Ed Heller left Tuesday for Fort Dodge and will proceed to San Diego after joining Uncle Sam's navy. Mr and Mrs Fred Kollasch announce the birth of a baby ten and a half pounds born Sunday morning at McCreery hospital. The upcoming marriage of Hubert O'Brien and Miss Sylvia Thilges of Bode was announced for the first Sunday of St Michael's Catholic Church.
Between 35 and 49 Whittemore mon Monday night shoveled snow off the road a mile from town to the main highway. This allowed residents to attend to business and opened the way for trucks to supply groceries to the town.
