General Kuropatkin telegraphs to Emperor Nicholas from St Petersburg dated February 3 stating the village of Chaytandhenay has been completely occupied after a fight with Japanese forces. Rebels were driven from Fanshen and Pondzova as sharpshooters entered Wanshen, bayoneting many Japanese. The Japanese reportedly left a hundred corpses on the right flank, eighty seven buried. Patrols blew up a railway eight miles south of Liaoyang on January 31 and February 2.
