Judge Rules Tenants May Stay in Farm Lease Case
District Judge Fred Hodson of Pocahontas decided for the defendants in the farm lease dispute of Martie A. Haughton vs C. Jurgens and Wilda Jurgens. The landlord sought termination and possession, but the tenants were allowed to remain on the farm they have been renting. Rape charges against two servicemen dismissed in Algona
Two Ruthten servicemen Pat Finnegan and Hubert Roland, aged 18 and 19, faced rape charges in Kossuth county court. The grand jury had been asked to indict but dismissed the case at the parents’ request. Roland had returned from Korea and Finnegan was stationed in San Diego. Military authorities said they would not block local action.

Design for 1952 Duck Stamp Selected in Washington
The winning design shows two harlequin ducks a drake and a hen in flight. John H Dick of S C submitted the wining entry for the nineteenth annual duck stamp competition in Washington. The harlequin duck is rare in Iowa where few records exist. All migratory waterfowl hunters over 14 must possess a current duck stamp costing $2.00 and available at post offices before dusk of the season.

Rites Held for Mrs Bertha Winders at Local Church
Funeral services for Mrs Bertha Winders 79 who died after a long illness were conducted Wednesday at the Methodist church with Rev Paul Johnson officiating. Pallbearers were Homer Hite William Vandervelde Ray Davenport Milton Merling Victor Hand and Harland Place. Burial followed in Evergreen cemetery with Foy Funeral home in charge. Mrs Casper Nelson provided organ music during the service. Born April 23 1872 in Hagerstown Maryland she later lived in Oregon Iowa Ellsworth Linn and Emmetsburg where the Winders and Alm Meat Store operated after Mr Winders died in 1930.
