Frank Hester Died After Gall Stone Operation
Frank Hester died after gall bladder surgery at Rochester Minnesota. He was born December 18 1877 in Greene Iowa and lived in Emmetsburg township before moving to town. Funeral held at St Thomas Church with solemn Requiem Mass and burial in St Johns cemetery. Pallbearers named and many floral offerings. Family survivors listed. Booster meeting planned at Court House for short course with K Company band and local leaders speaking.

Married Fifty Years in Mallard Celebration
Mr and Mrs John B Hahn of Mallard marked their fiftieth wedding anniversary at Woodman hall. About 80 attended including children grandchildren and distant relatives from Alliance and Watergo. The fete featured a long table, gold and white decorations, a large feast and a program. Gifts included two gold pieces a gold headed cane and parasol. Hahn born 1834 in Heilbronn Germany and Katherine Kubach born 1940 in Heilbronn Germany married 1882 in Germany and moved to the US in 1887 settling in Grant County Wisconsin before homesteading in Mallard Iowa. They raised thirteen children and 35 grandchildren. The community extended congratulations. A photo was ordered for next week. Notice to public: adjourned Ellington township meeting February 17 at 11 for electing dragging superintendent and set road work. Fred Moopm, Clerk.

The Friday club held its annual banquet in the Congregational church lecture room with pink and white decorations and a three-school indoor field meet after a candlelit dinner hosted by Mrs. Van Gorden. Toasts by T F Rutledge M Ansland and W H Morling followed.
