Des Moines Poultry Show to Open at Coliseum in December

At least a dozen states will be represented as the Des Moines central States poultry exhibition prepares for a week long run from December 27 to January 2 at the Coliseum. Fine Residence Burns Near Oskaloosa

A 50 gallon kerosene tank exploded in the home of the late G G Laughlin six miles northeast of Oskaloosa. Flames swept the building and its contents, the watchers rescuing Laughlin’s body but some were badly burned. Loss stood at 3000 dollars. Also noted is the sentence of Smith Dodge to thirty years in Fort Madison for killing Gave Geiger during a drunken row near Burlington last summer.

Heirs Protest Will in Newton Estate

Ira Woman Killed in Aura Crash

Mrs. Iskewy, a well known farmer near Tra, died when the auto carrying her family plunged over an embankment near Ira. Her husband was seriously injured with five broken ribs but expected to recover. The three children riding in the wagon were unhurt. The report notes Ms Iske was a well to do farmer living near Tra and was actively engaged in local farming.

Charles Strahmeyer, a veteran market man, was killed instantly when thrown from his cart during a runaway in Oskaloosa. He struck his head and broke his neck. His brother and partner died similarly in a previous incident.
