The Fairville Creamery stockholders will gather at Higley school house on Saturday January 4 at 10 a.m. to elect officers decide on reincorporation duration and handle other business. Fred Witte presides Joseph Klieg is secretary.
More than 350 miners escaped drowning when a hidden water body burst into the No 4 slope of the Lehigh Valley and Wilkesbarre Coal Co. at Audenreid. A Polish miner's body was later found, believed to be the shooter who breached barriers. Nine men died last July from white damp.
In Fa May Reach Three Hundred Two days after Thursday explosion rescuers reach half a dozen more bodies totaling twelve at the morgue. Gas delays slow progress as officials order safe passageways and ventilated routes. United Mine Workers organizer Hallaphy predicts up to 300 dead as relief committees form and state inspectors converge.

San Francisco December 23 General Frederick Funston returns from Goldfield where he investigated the clash between the Goldfield Mine Owners Association and the Western Federation of Miners. He notes the situation is delicate with most union miners inclined toward peace while owners threaten to operate with nonunion labor and may face serious trouble if outsiders are imported. He says the merits of the case are hard to judge.
In Valparaiso Chile Dec 23 a nitrate workers strike erupts into bloodshed. Langunas sees an armed clash leaving seven dead and sixteen wounded while Iquique reports one death and multiple injuries. Censorship is set at Iquique as strikers grow to about 30 000 with no work in Antofagasta Mejillones Orcaleta and Buena districts.
Turmoil rises as two provinces Tabriz and Recht back deposing the shah. Rumors say German minister may mediate. Also notes on local curbs, extortion indictment in New York, mine disaster recovery, and a shooting in Shaws, Massachusetts.

In Decorah district court H P F Curb also known as Harry Kirby was sentenced to ten years in the penitentiary for forgery. He was accused of cashing two $50 checks in June using the Barrett & Zimmermann and Minnesota Land Company names and is reportedly wanted in Dubuque Cedar Rapids Clinton and other cities. A prior jail break attempt with saws was foiled after Nels Duff was found guilty of providing the tools.
