Theodore Miller of Ayrshire Dies at 81

Theodore Miller, 81, longtime Ayrshire resident, died after a lengthy illness. Funeral services are scheduled this afternoon at the Ayrshire funeral home. He served in the Danish navy and later moved to America at age 28, settling on a farm in Ayrshire in 1913. Survivors include two sons, three daughters, 14 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a brother in Copenhagen. His wife and youngest daughter Norma Jean preceded him in death.

Hungry for turkey get in on the big free turkey drawings in Emmetsburg Friday night December 7. Twenty turkeys were tracked last Friday but only six prizes claimed. The remaining turkeys will be added to the December 7 awards and there will be plenty to go around. Anyone can still register. if you already signed on Bank Day listings you need not register again. Yule Fund Receives $145 Second Week Support

The Palo Alto county Yule fund nears its need, reaching 145 dollars in the second week. Contributors include Rena Birkland and John Martin with Brenettaburg in clothing gifts. Mrs. Marguerit Calkins urges canned goods, bedding, and cash to furnish shoes and overshoes for needy families before Christmas.

Citizens urged to donate cash or usable materials to the Yule Fund sponsored by The Democrat with County Relief Office aid. Contributions go to needy families as Christmas approaches. Prize Won and Next Award Planned in Emmetsburg

Alfred Dahlgren of Laurens failed to claim the C. of C. cash prize of 300 when his name was called Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Emmetsburg stores and shops. Next week's award will be 350 dollars.

Referendum Planned on Soil Bank Allotment Plan

County voting will occur in every township of Pala Alto on December 1. William Brodersen, chairman, said the ballot asks whether to use soil bank base acreage for 1935, 1958, and 1959 crops or to adopt an acreage allotment plan. At least two thirds of votes must be in favor to adopt the soil bank base. Producers may contact the county ASC office in Emmelsburg for more information.

Lights On Blink Stop Signs Going Up at Busy Intersection

Emmetsburg reports the Main and Broadway corner, city’s busiest, features blinking lights that flash green and red, failing due to worn components. A GE specialist must perform the delicate repair. until then regulation stop signs will be installed and traffic must halt at all approaches. Stop signals will cover the corner, with similar blinkers at a nearby cross street to be harmonized or replaced. Police urge caution as repairs proceed.
