The Freedom Busy Bees held their Achievement Day on August 15 at the home of Dorothy and Shirley Sprout. Eight members, two leaders, and eighteen guests attended. Irene Donovan led the meeting with a business session and a packed program including Music of 1946 and demonstrations.
Very Rev W F Mason and Rev Wm Molloy both of this city will travel to Sioux Falls S D next Tuesday to attend the installation of Rev Wm O Brady of St Paul as bishop of the Sioux Falls diocese. Brady was consecrated bishop in St Paul Cathedral Thursday. The new bishop is a personal friend of the two local clergymen. Jerry Schraeder, three, son of Mr and Mrs Elmer Schraeder of West Bend, broke his arm while playing in the yard last Thursday afternoon.
Iowa Highway Commission announced this week that the new pavement south of Milford will be opened for public travel this weekend. Resident engineer O B Gook was in Milford recently to check work and could not be reached for a precise opening statement. Mrs Bert Higgins and family of Spencer spent Sunday with Emmitsburg relatives.
Editor Kenneth Randall of the Srenecer Times spent Monday as a visitor in Emmetsburg and was a pleasant caller during his stay.
