Louis Phillips, Mrs Cadahy and Mrs Joseph Mulroney visited friends at Whittemore on Saturday.

T A Baldwin died suddenly yesterday afternoon about 5 80 oclock while butchering with his son Vance on the Baldwin Ranch eight miles northeast of Inez on Arenesa Creek. Born July 6 1854 in Union City Pennsylvania he was 66. He moved to Victoria County from Emmetsburg Indiana eight years ago and engaged in farming and cattle. He was a Farm Bureau Federation director and recently returned from meetings at College Station. Survived by his widow two sons Vance and T A Baldwin Jr and four daughters Carrie Baldwin Curvil Thompson Mrs C Snider and Mrs Bernard Weis plus two sisters. Funeral arrangements pending. Sympathy extended to Mrs Baldwin and family.
City plans new telephone directories and asks patrons to have old volumes ready for exchange. Operators at the central office find outdated directories cumbersome and urge recipients to dispose of them promptly while obtaining the corrected list of patrons.
Western Electric will install a new telephone exchange at Spirit Lake for improved service when the resort season opens in June. Extensions stretch to the north shore and across the Okobojis, with an exceptionally fine switchboard and extensive cabling. Friday and Saturday brought cool weather with high winds and a 22 degree chill. No fruit damage reported and grain losses are doubtful.
About one thousand representatives from wholesale grocery firms in the United States and Canada will assemble in Chicago this week to decide if steps can be taken to restore prewar prices. The public will benefit from earlier reductions in prices. J. B. Knoblauch was a passenger.
County Agent Wy F. Clark outlines a four spray plan for apples including timing around pink blossoms, 8 to 10 quarts of liquid lime sulfur, and arsenate of lead, with follow ups ten days to two weeks apart.
