Elks Leader Eyes Western Tour and Hawaii Visit
Waterloo dispatch reports Hon. C. B. Pickett, grand exalted ruler of the Elks, planning a wide western trip toward the Pacific coast. The itinerary includes a steamer from the Golden Gate to Hawaii, where an Urk’s lodge exists, with potential press to Manila as U S territory. The piece notes no lodge yet in Manila but implies one may be established. The Spirit Lake Beacon also reviews Estherville Enterprise as a late candidate for local favor and hints at shifting newspaper options.
