Electric railroad project in Hancock county faces local funding
The Elm worth Castine electric line seeks local support to secure right of way and funding. Proponents argue land values rise, farmers gain shipping access, and Maine coast tourism expands, with construction tied to community investment and a $50 000 land-right request.
Ellsworth urged to back electric line with taxes and right of way
The article argues for residents of Ellsworth and neighboring towns to support building an electric road by contributing $50,000 and securing the right of way, claiming benefits for the region, especially the seacoast towns. It warns against accepting stagnation and notes plans to proceed with next year’s sixth annual Bangor music festival amid debate over attendance. It also reports Hancock county’s relief in capturing the Penobscot crime suspect, avoiding notoriety of a similar case.
