Union river drives progress with Nabum N Jordan in charge
About 12 million feet of timber in the Union river drives except the Middle branch. Nabum N Jordan expected to take the Middle branch next week. Lumber totals include 10 to 12 million feet of stave and logs and 0.5 to 0.6 million feet of hardwood. Roderick McDonald reports his hardwood drive, with 0.5 to 0.6 million feet for a steam mill and 1.5 million feet for Whitcomb Haynes Co and C J Treworgy. Freshen spring freshet made the work hard. crews faced high jams and flooded meadows requiring long hauls. Hardwoods boomed at the steam mill, sawing to begin with West Branch drive in Monday night. East Branch drive led by Henry French arrived yesterday. Charles Gerry brought Green Lake drive this morning.
