Sewer Assessments Prompt Final Collection Effort
The city pursues final collection of sewer assessments after writs served on eight property owners who defaulted. Two sewers were built two summers ago along High and Pine streets to connect to the river, funded by about 60 percent assessments on abutting properties. Attorney G B Stuart notified owners to pay by 5 pm yesterday. several paid, some ready to settle, with court appearances unlikely. Writs returnable at the January term of the supreme court.
