The notice emphasizes value in women’s shopping and invites customers to visit to take advantage of the deals.
Long list of town happenings includes club meetings, lectures, marriages, and civic business. Residents John Neils dies at 66. families, churches, and the G A R units hold events as storms test streets and shops. Meetings discuss charter veto power and public works, while fishing tales and sales fill Hancock ball week.

He will speak from study and experience, with practical illustrations and figures. A full discussion of the subject is expected for creamery patrons and those considering joining.
A special meeting of the board of aldermen was held to consider reductions in street lighting bills. Manager R H MacMullan argued the city violated the contract by cutting charges, claiming outages were unavoidable. The board disagreed on what constituted unavoidable incidents and adjourned for further investigation as portions of previous months’ deductions were detailed.
Reports from Boston Advertiser and Lloyds lists debate whether the vessel Portland Lloyds off South America was the ship Portland from Portland Ore. Uncertainty over wreck claims persists as crews seek confirmation. Capt Freethy’s friends hope the dispatches were mistaken. later notes say the Portland Lloyds may be safe with Capt Freethy sailing to New York on February 1.
Wreckage identified as WT Py Dixon of Rockland drifted ashore near Vineyard Haven last Wednesday night. Debris and bodies found on deck and cabin, with three men and a dog aboard. Reported as a sea disaster with lines to Greens Head and nearby vessels.
Ellsworth residents in the Masonic order invited Blinquefort Commandery of Portland to relocate here, an invitation accepted after a preliminary meeting last Wednesday in Portland. Ellsworth Knights, having demitted from St. John's in Bangor, elected officers and plan meetings at the Masonic hall on State street with talks of a second-story armory and banquet hall. About thirty applicants are awaiting initiation as the new commandery forms under local authority.
The last enfemunmest in their season, organized by the Daughters of Isworth, occurred at Fanwork Hall last Thursday evening. Mr. Charles Williams of Huston performed as humorist and impresario, delivering a varied program of readings, parodies, and a humorous debater. The entertainment pleased the audience and reflected well on the group’s literary and musical offerings.
