Paris report says German forces attacked the Ar gonne region last night and were repulsed with heavy losses. A separate British counterattack near Zonnebeke was broken up by British forces, according to a London official statement.
Washington reports a United States battleship is aground in home waters. The vessel rests easily and should be floated without difficulty. Navy officials urge newspapers to withhold details that could reveal the ship’s identity or location.
The district exemption board of Nevada requested guidance on when an Indian becomes a U S citizen. Washington dispatch reports First Lieutenant Keating of the Philadelphia medical corps wounded during an air raid on September 24. General Pershing confirms the casualty and also notes the death of Private James Tracy of the Philadelphia engineers in an accident in the line of duty.
