English cabinet votes twelve to nine against conscription while Earl Kitchener remains noncommittal. Parliament will not press conscription this session as Asquith promises a further war credit and a taxation budget next week.
Cincinnati dispatch reports national tennis champion William Johnson ordered by physicians to skip the tristate event here due to nerve strain. Doctors warn continued play could permanently weaken his form.
George E. Spears world champion straight rail and fancy shot billiard player arrives in Elko for an 8 oclock exhibition at Rex billiard parlors. Spears has long been a leading figure in billiards and will be a rare treat for local fans tonight.
Spears offers odds of 100 to no count and will play a 200 point game with the best player in the city. He holds the world’s high run at straight rail 5 044 at Jackson Michigan. In Winnemucca last night Spears posted a high run of 133. He becomes the first champion player to appear in Nevada.
