Famous Inventor Maxim Passes Away at 76
London date November 24 Sir Hiram Stevens Maxim renowned American inventor died aged 76. Born February 5 1840 in Sangerville Maine he rose from coach builder apprentice to gas illumination inventor and later perfected smokeless gunpowder and the Maxim machine gun. He moved to Europe in 1880 and was knighted in 1901. His brother Hudson Maxim also held patents in explosives.

Pioneer Virginian City Editor Dies in Texas
Captain John Ginn, veteran newspaper man of the west and south West, died at El Paso Texas Tuesday. He would have been 81 on Christmas day. He was editor of the Virginia City Nevada Enterprise at one time and also worked on the San Francisco Argonaut. He was connected with local newspapers here for many years. He was a Civil War veteran.
