Demurrer Filed in Case Against Southern Pacific

Nevada Industrial Commission sues Southern Pacific to recover indemnity paid to a Verdi Lumber employee killed at Lovelock through alleged railroad negligence. James P. Raine Answers Summons

James P. Raine of Pine Valley Nevada dies in San Francisco on Tuesday night at about seventy. Pioneer in the region, he owned a large ranch and helped in local water and development ventures. Allies Present More Demands Over Greece Attitude

Italians Defeat Austrian Forage Forces Near Trieste

Rome reports Austrian garrisons evacuated Rovereto and Mori as Italian forces breached the Isonzo defenses between San Valentino and Podegora. Italian troops captured forts 73 and 67 guarding the Podegora bridge toward Gorizia and destroyed forts 44 and 89 within Gorizia’s inner lines, with its capture deemed imminent.

New York November 24. Max May a foreign exchange expert and vice president of Guaranty Trust explains how adopting the American dollar as the world trade standard could save American manufacturers money. He notes the pound sterling as a fluctuating benchmark harms exporters and urges plans by American bankers to stabilize foreign exchange so that foreign buyers pay in dollars, shifting exchange risk away from U.S. exporters and toward buyers. Sterling might settle around 4.65 dollars, but fluctuations hurt trade. May says American exporters want buyers to assume the exchange risk now.

Bulgars Rout French on Certina River Front

Preaching Mission Planned Across Nevada in Elko
