American destroyer Chauncey sunk in collision

Washington nov 20 the navy department reports the sinking of the American destroyer Chauncey in a collision in the war zone with a probable loss of twenty lives. Admiral Sims in command of American naval forces in foreign waters gave the brief report. Chauncey was a small 420 ton old type vessel.

Aviator Poet D Annunzio Safe at Front After Missing Report

Rome dispatches say Gabrielle D Annunzio the aviator poet previously reported missing after a night over enemy lines is at the front and active. Home guards meeting drew nearly all active members with strong enthusiasm and plans for 150 or more members. By laws adopted, guns secured, and other matters addressed. George C Jensen made permanent captain and J C Doughty permanent secretary. Drill set for four thirty each evening until further notice.

Earthquake Sinks Vessel Off Kingstown with Heavy Loss

Reports from Kingstown Jamaica on November 20 say a ship bound for Cuba sank after the seafloor gave way in an earthquake. Only three survivors were reported, with officials noting the disaster likely caused by the underwater quake.

German shell hits chateau near American front HQ
