Nevada Forest Receipts From Federal Lands in 1917

Net receipts from national forests in Nevada in 1917 totaled 79000 dollars. Twenty five percent of this, about 19300 dollars, supported roads and schools within the forest counties. An additional ten percent, about 7900 dollars, was used for road and traffic construction and maintenance in-state.

Pardons Sought by Nevada Prisoners Amid Large Applications

Sixteen inmates have filed for pardons with the Nevada State Prison Pardon Board including Clyde Parkhurst. One hundred fifteen sought clemency, with thirty seven from Elko County named among them such as Lee Campbell Ray Allison Indian Andy Jack Armstrong Henry Best and many others. Most applicants faced charges by information and pleaded guilty through county officials avoiding trials.

Sheriff Harris Home Burglarized In Overnight Theft

A burglar entered by the back door of Sheriff Harris home and took a pair of pants containing cash dividends from the room where he slept. The intruder ate stew left from dinner before leaving through the kitchen. Mrs Harrie heard a noise but mistook it for a child. The next morning the missing pants and the open back door revealed the burglary with no clue to the intruder.
