Sheriff investigates rabid horse shot by Ten Mile man

Frank Cudney of Ten Mile telephoned the Sheriff’s office to report he had shot a horse on his property to prevent rabies. He said the animal frantically approached his porch and showed rabid symptoms. District Attorney Tommey went to investigate the matter.

Carlin Lady Laid To Rest After Large Funeral

A large Elko delegation attended the Carlin funeral of Mrs. W. F. Linebarger whose body was laid to rest in the Carlin cemetery. Rev. Charles McHarness delivered the sermon as hymns filled the service. Surrounded by five grown children and a husband, she had suffered years of ill health and was taken to Sacramento for treatment without success.

Elko County Pioneer Frank Van Duzer Dies in Boulder

Obituary reports Frank C. Van Duzer pioneer of Elko County who died November 8 in Boulder Colorado. Born August 22 1834 in Ohio he homesteaded in Gilpin County and had long served as justice of the peace in Cape Mining District. He leaves two children Arda Wilson and Clarence Van Duzer and four grandchildren. Funeral planned in Denver at Olinger's mortuary November 10.

Storm victim Bertha Hansel brought from Lamoille

Miss Bertha M. Hansel, rescued after a Ruby Mountains trip to a lake near Lumont, was brought in from Lamoille to recovery. She cannot walk yet due to burned feet from hot water bottles used in her care. Her sister Minnie and another sister Rachel accompanied her, with plans to return to Pennsylvania soon.
