Heavy storms on Lake Erie threaten two vessels. The freighter Philp Armour grounded four miles west of Erie with six crewmen rescued from the rigging. The grain steamer Perry reportedly sank outside Erie harbor with three crew members saved by life savers.
The State Department accuses Austrian counsel general Nuber in New York of participating in several shady schemes to embarrass the U S government. Justice officials probe alleged passport fraud and efforts to delay exporting munitions as Lansing's information links Nuber to plots.
United Press reports Athens news that negotiations aim to shield allies in Serbia from Greece's stance. Allies may dispute Greek troops or bases and consider bases in Albania or Montenegro to support Serbia. Tucker Estate in settlement: Robert Tucker named administrator. appraisers Chas. A. Nuckols, A.
