The president will meet with the cabinet for one hour every Tuesday and Friday. Today's session lasted about an hour and covered the preparedness program. The group discussed increases in army and navy funding and methods to raise revenue to cover higher expenses.
Harland Sullivan alias W Woods facing murder charge for Ollie Bat death at Goose Creek, Judge Ducker grants continuance to next Monday after defense cites late appointment of counsel. Sullivan to be regularly tried for the offense despite his prior assertion of first degree indictment. Attorneys McNamaara and Vaan Fleet represent him.
William Jones drove a four horse wagon into town from the north when the wagon ran up on the horses on a Fifth Street hill. Snow caused wheel slip and the wagon tongue broke. With help from Bob Hunter and Joe Hayward the team was stopped on Idaho Street. Jones and the horses escaped injury.
Vienna boasted of repulsed Italian attacks with heavy losses, but the Rome military bulletin counters that Italian forces have captured the entire Plava district.
Rome reports the admiralty ordered the navy to pursue Greek smugglers supplying German submarines. If these actions are halted, Mediterranean submarine activity may end. Judge E J McFadden visits Elko and Winnemucca before returning to Ely. he filled in for Judge Ducker during a trial term.
A light storm touched Elko with less than half an inch of snow, vanishing within hours, yet it refreshed the air. An illness wave, blamed on dust and dryness, may ease as the storm ends. Nearby areas report several inches of snow in recent days.
After a five hour trial the jury found Henry Best guilty of burglary with a leniency recommendation. Sentenced by Judge Ducker to a state prison term of three to five years, Best was warned about future felonies. The case involved a theft of weights from a Mountain City building alongside co-defendant Arthur Bown.
Four cases remain to be tried in this term of court. J A Maddon faces perjury charges. Harland M Sullivan, indicted as W Wood, is charged with murder. John Cohn stands charged with embezzlement. Frank Huaber is charged with murder.
In Athens on November 12 a general battle has been building for days with intermittent clashes. Bulgarian forces span Tetovo to Strumnita along the Vardar, facing British in the southwest, French center, and Serbian northern troops.
United Press reports former President Mellon testified that New Haven officials plotted to cripple New England transport, then sought to extend competition to Pacific Coast trade via rail and sea routes, but faced resistance from railroads and steamship companies.
Undertaker Keyser states he will ship the remains of Christian Bomke to Lyons tonight. Receiver Louise Probst, sister of the deceased, will receive them. Bomke died after falling from a train in Carlin on Sunday night, with papers valued at more than 50 dollars in his pockets.

Rome dispatches report Italy has decisively decided to actively aid the Balkan campaign. If successful, Italy could deploy a strong army across the Adriatic to Montenegro or Albania, strengthening the opposition to Serbia and aiding the French and British pressure.
The Austrian embassy alleged Dr Josef Gorlar former San Francisco consul conspired with Russian or Serbian agents to spread disloyalty among Austro Hungarian emigrants. Gorlar fled via Rome after leaving Berlin and later came to the United States to stir trouble. The Justice Department said it would probe the claim and American reporter Archibald denied involvement, calling the charges malicious.
Several days ago Mr Wheeler of the Nevada Insane Asylum reported that the body of Charles West, who died at the asylum about three months ago, is undergoing petrification. West was sent from this place about two years ago. The embalmed body is watched as a chemical change progresses. Nearby ships and a ranch death are also noted in this brief item.
United Press reports federal officials will issue warrants for sixteen doctors in Oakland and here linked to alleged driving while intoxicated. Meantime Wah Gim’s body is sent toward San Francisco for burial and Greek Parliament remains muzzled as Venizelos changes shape of government.
Rumors persist at the White House that Secretary of Agriculture Houston is slated for a major appointment and may resign soon. Assistant Secretary Vroonan is said to succeed Houston as per reports in circulation.
Roylance, general manager, and Buck, electrician of the Roy lance Reduction works at Kennedy, say the mine has closed since the October quake and will not reopen until tremors cease. The Silver State notes the quake reduced shifts to about 21 hours, with over 40 quakes hourly a week ago.
United Press reports November 12 in Washington that the commerce commission documents show Trans Continental lines proposing a five cent rise per hundredweight from Chicago to the Pacific and an iron and steel article rate addendum to include from Pittsburgh to the Pacific city. The proposed levels are set below the intermediate rates.
An army surgeon in the British Medical Journal describes removing a bullet from a chest chamber under local anesthesia with the patient watching. He notes the heart’s insensitiveness to direct stimulation and that the heart was opened and closed with stitches without pain or discomfort, using cocaine with adrenaline not employed.
Chancellor Jordan of Stanford predicted peace overtures by Christmas from neutrals. An informal meeting of peace advocates will be held in December with neutrals from leading nations. The result could be a continuous commission of quasi officials to address mediation proposals to the belligerents.

A surgeon described removing a bullet from the heart during an operation with the patient conscious throughout.
