Special to The Independent Rome May 22 Italy will declare war on Austria today after the Indian senate passed Premier Salandra’s bill granting plenary powers to the government. The vote 262 to 2 signaled Italy’s entry into the war amid enthusiastic demonstrations in the chamber witnessed by King Victor Emmanuel. The note to Vienna annuls the triple alliance and asserts Italy’s right to act independently while highlighting distrust and unresolved terms with Austria Hungary.
